I grew up in Hingham, Mass, a small New England town that was founded in 1635 (and was probably full of lead paint hazards from the many generations of renovations!).

In 1987 I moved to New York City, and got my acting degree (a BFA) from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in 1990.  I studied primarily with Circle in the Square on Broadway and also spent a year studying experimental theater and mask and clown work with the Theatre du Soliel in Paris, France.  I also did summer class programs in language arts and sciences at Skidmore (in upstate New York) and Dartmouth College (in Hanover, New Hampshire.)

Upon graduating from NYU, I moved to Marin County, California where I lived for nearly 12 years (in Mill Valley, San Rafael and Fairfax). In 1994, I completed the coursework for the Master’s in Non-profit Administration Program with the University of San Francisco’s College of Professional Studies.  Around this time I held several fundraising positions in San Francisco Bay Area non-profits. In 1995 & 1996 I was the Director of Development for Marin Theater Company in Mill Valley.  During this time I also worked in the Development Departments of Marin Shakespeare Company, Berkeley Repertory Theater Company, The Mountain Play Association and Headlands Center for the Arts.

I started my consultancy in 1996 shortly after the birth of my oldest son, Colescott.  During the first year of my business I also worked half time in a staff position as the Event Coordinator for the County of Marin (overseeing and coordinating events at Marin Center and the Marin County Fairgrounds.) In the beginning, my business focused primarily on non-profit development projects and fundraising campaign management - with an emphasis on working with boards of directors to develop long term sustainable special events that generated annual income for the agencies I worked with.  I also specialized in coordinating special events with celebrity guests (Rosalynn Carter, Mickey Hart and others) as a way to draw attention to special causes (mental illness, immigration, the arts, children with special needs, etc.)  My consultancy had two primary areas of focus: non-profit fundraising and FileMaker Pro database design.  (please see our business website for a list of former and current clients.)

After the birth of my second son (A.J. - pictured above) in July of 2002, I simplified my consultancy work by working solely on FileMaker Pro database design for small businesses and non-profits.

Avi was born in January of 2005. The boys got lead poisoning about 8 months later with the repainting of the exterior of our home which took place in August/September of 2005. The last three years have been spent learning as much as I can and fighting that fight with all of my available free time.  The key to winning this battle is creating sustained public awareness of both the problem and the solutions!
